I’m back from vacation and trying to check myself back into reality. What an absolutely amazing vacation, like nothing I’ve ever done before!! The ocean was absolutely amazing!!!!
We went to Riviera Maya and upon arrival at our resort, found out that our resort area had been closed so we were dropped off at another section of the resort. When we got there, we were shuffled over to yet another resort section (all from the same main resort) because they had closed down that one as well. So we ended up at a 5-star (being upgraded twice) which was amazing!!! Everything from the rooms to the pool to the food to the entertainment was more than I could’ve imagined.
Due to the H1N1 flu craziness, so many people had canceled their vacations. It was awesome for us because there was hardly anyone around. The first day when we took pictures at the beach, when we got ready to go eat at around 6:00 or something, there was not one single person that we could see on the beach….craziness!!! But at the same time, it was very sad to see that so many resorts were shut down because that meant that all those people were out of work. The people that we did meet at our resort were working 16 hour days. We kept seeing the same guy, Polo, at every meal and finally asked him how many hours he was working. Makes you so grateful for what we have here.
I think that the hardest thing for me was feeling like I was in paradise while on the resort and then I felt so sad for the people when we traveled to the closest town and saw all the poverty. A true wake up call. I was so grateful for my tiny house w/ grass and a porch when we got home!!
It was an amazing experience! I’m glad to be home but definitely not ready to be back at work….haha. Anyway, here are a few pics from the trip! I thought I did pretty well lugging my camera around but now that I’m home, I’m wishing I would’ve taken a lot more pictures!

Alissa - Thanks for the comment, and WOW these shots are gorgeous! Oh how I wish I could take a vacation at the moment; the pounding of hammers in the midst of a remodel certainly pales in comparison to the ocean views you had!
