If you don’t recognize my little sister by now, scroll through some old blog posts and you’re sure to see her familiar face. She loves having her picture taken and naturally, the camera just loves her right back. So with Christmas card season in full gear and an office at their house needing an update, she thought it was a great time for some more pictures. The snow was lightly falling and we decided to still meet but once we got there, it was craziness. As you can clearly tell in the first shot, it was cold! So I took all of about 5 pictures and told them we’d reschedule. About 15 minutes later, my sister called and said the clouds were breaking up and wanted to try again. And just like that, what started as a crazy December snowfall turned into a calm weather evening and we finished the entire photo session.
That’s what I love and also hate about Colorado. I love that when it’s freezing cold, there’s always a chance of it warming up right around the corner. But at the same time, it makes it hard for a photographer to truly know when to postpone sessions due to weather. If I cancel too early (which I have done in the past), the sun usually comes out and it ends up being a perfect day for a photo session. Guess that’s just one more thing that keeps this job so interesting for me!![]()
